If your burger cravings are particularly strong this month, the reason may be scribbled on your food-days calendar. (Or do only food writers keep those handy?) Not only is it National Burger Month, but National Burger Day also lands today. 

Here are some local restaurants to celebrate our burger obsessions.

Duffy’s Sports Grill

How’s this for a Burger Day deal: Get a Duffy’s Cheeseburger for $5.99 on May 28. The special is offered from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for dine-in customers. 

And in advance of Burger Day, Duffy’s has introduced a trio of new burgers. The locally based sports-grill chain is calling this new lineup the “Burger Blitz.” The new burgers include the Major League Burger (half-pound beef patty, sunny egg, bacon, blue cheese, Swiss cheese, grilled onions, baby arugula and Duffy's burger sauce), the Tsunami Teriyaki Turkey Burger (7-ounce patty, roasted pineapple, teriyaki cabbage-scallion slaw and spicy aioli) and the Italiano Burger (half-pound beef patty, melted mozzarella, tomato-basil marinara, baby arugula, garlic butter and a Parmesan toasted bun).
