Discover announced Monday that Emmett was unanimously appointed to the board by the group’s executive committee.
Emmett is the son of Paul Emmett, who transformed the Palm Beach Gardens-based Duffy’s into a dining empire. Paul Emmett died in February after a battle with bile duct cancer.
“Jason brings a rich background in the art of hospitality and food service,” Jorge Pesquera, President and CEO of Discover The Palm Beaches said in a prepared statement released by the group. “His years as Paul’s understudy and his proven leadership of the ever-expanding Duffy’s restaurant chain will bring enormous value to Discover’s Board and management team.”
After receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Management from Clark University, Jason Emmett began his career for the New York City-based Restaurant Associates as an Operations Manager at the United Nations foodservice facility.
Emmett joined Duffy’s Sports Grill in 2005 as a group supervisor. In 2007, he was promoted to Senior Vice President. In February, Emmett was promoted to President.
“It’s an honor for me to join the Board of Directors of Discover The Palm Beaches and continue to serve in place of my father, Paul Emmett,” Emmett said. “He was very passionate about serving alongside this distinguished group of business professionals and community leaders. I look forward to continuing his passion for promoting Palm Beach County as the premier destination in Florida.”
